At our farm Rolling Hills pasture are Berkshire cells are bred in large quarter acre paddocks, with birthing shelters. that protects the piglets from extreme weather conditions but still allows freedom of movement. the farming methods and beliefs we use, from grazing rotations to slaughter preserve and protect the land we raise them on and respect the animals we raise from birth until they're one achy day sacrificing for the food on our plates.

Our Berkshire pigs live on pasture at our farm in Northern Michigan. The pigs, grazes and live on five acres which are broken down into half acre paddocks, they are rotated every 12 days from one paddock to the next. There is a perimeter fence that surrounds all five acres. Then each paddock is fenced in. This ensures that our pigs are safe from escaping and protected from predators. Inside each paddock we have shelters for them, which also gets moved when they are rotated.

In addition to grazing their pastures, eating grass, roots, bugs and just about anything else they come across. Our pigs get a mix of non-GMO grains, vitamins, and minerals that are perfectly mixed for them. We provide them also with feed that is made of peas, barley, wheat and oats. They are supplemented with hay, produce and scraps. There is a crucial link between a pig's diet and the flavor of the pork. Most industry raised pig survive on corn and soybean, while Berkshire pigs often eat Rich whole grains like oats wheat barley and peas as well as fresh vegetables and fruits. Pigs are unique because the fat that they eat is redistributed into their muscle fiber, meaning the pigs are literally, what they eat. So, what a pig is fed is very important to how it tastes.
